Video #41 - Surviving Winter

Here is the latest video on the Homestead. It is a bit long, but the scenes change up a bit throughout.

  1. Thanks for "Thursday Night at the Movies"! New window looks nice, it balances out the looks of the front of the little house. Did you get the insulation done? I hope so, it looks mighty cold. I like your neighbors :-) Kiki is looking fat and sassy, too.

    1. He is pretty sassy. You should see us when we shuffle around the house boxing. ;-) I am pretty much done with Insulation. It is now time to come up with a few bucks to 'drywall' the inside and cover it all up. Also permanently stick down the cork flooring with adhesive. At the moment it is just placed down. Feels and looks great. For the 'drywall' I am thinking of using the thin Luan sheets instead of heavy gypsom board. Give the ceiling a wooden boat sort of look to it.

  2. It looks great! Love the 2nd window it really does balance the house as Granny said. I love Kiki on the steps looking longingly at the door knob. I know he was thinking really hard about how to get that door open, LOL. Your property is so pretty with all the snow. I know it's cold but it's just so peaceful looking. Keep it up!!!

    1. He is pretty funny. Sitting there. Trying his might at staying there while I bust up wood. Then tromps off when he has had enough!

I think the scenes of the blowing snow and the bathroom really shows it off up here! :)

    2. Ha, I noticed he kept looking at you, then the door, then you'd make noise and he'd move a bit and then come back. Until, as you said, he had enough. Too funny.

Oh yeah, and about that bathroom.....you are a braver man than I....LOL!

  3. Thanks for the video, I like to see how you are coping with winter up there and staying warm. If I were you I'd figure out a way to run an extension cord to the bathroom and have an electric heater inside it. Flip a switch 30 minutes before you go in and off when you return :-)
    Enjoy your life!

    1. Talk about planning! You'd have to be on a regular schedule. ;-)

I've become quite in tune with the phases of the sun. (When Its sunny, off to the pot)
