Pickles is back to being super nice. (I put him in his carrier from 11am to 8pm that day. Then in there at night while I sleep as normal. )
What did I learn? Dumbass, do not shove your arm in a dark hole with a wild animal.
He goes over there because there is a female cat that lives there.
Guess I have to take him in to the vet to make sure he is not sick and on his way out due to wildly changing behavior in that instant.
I will be sad if I have to put him down. However, I cannot stand for abusive relationships.
Deep bite mark in the center with reddenning from infection. |
Serious deep scratches. Photos do not do it justice. |
Hospital souvenir - White admittance bracelet. |
There is no point of taking him to the vet - his response is pretty natural for any animal, even for domesticated one. He found a safe spot and you attempted to pull him out against his will so he responded in the same - fought for his space and freedom. i'm sorry you got hurt, but his response to you was warranted.
ReplyDeleteNot warranted. But a natural response, yes.
DeleteI don't know but I have to think with that attitude are you sure pickles is a guy and not a girl? :-)
ReplyDeleteIf it wasn't for the bean-less beanbag... I may wonder about his about face, 180 reversal.
DeleteJust wondering, what did that hospital visit set you back?
ReplyDeleteI am not sure about the hospital side. Insurance took care of it. As did insurance save me $112 for 14 days of pills. You ever find it funny how everything is a hundred bucks? (Thanks for insurance otherwise....whew you can get into debt quick!!!)
DeleteAll in all, I was out for a few bucks.
DeleteHoly Cat Scratch Fever, Batman!!!
ReplyDeleteYeppers. Got me 2 weeks worth of pills. Should be super duper bug free after it! (never had bugs before. :) )
DeleteAre you sure it was Mr. P that got you? The other cat may have been the one that bit you, and scratched you? If it was him he must have thought you were moving in on his girl. LOL
ReplyDeleteHope you both are ok. Don't forget to keep up with his rabies shots as well. I don't think they are required for a cat, but with your remote location you never know what he may catch and eat.
Good advice, Frank. There have been a number of cases of Rabies derived from cats via bats, then attacking children around Colorado.
DeleteIt was Mr.P that got me. He does go over there for a GF though. He just found a nice spot and was not interested in coming out, no matter how much my vocal intonation changed. :)
Now that he is back indoors he is well mannered.
I am not one for drama. Another reason I enjoy this sort of living. The swirls of chatter just go around me and I can remain detached from it all. I am seeing lately in my blog posts drama regarding my cat escapes and his GF. Hmm. No good. No good at all.
I need to mitigate it. :)
Ouch! I would get Mr. P checked out by the vet. When cats don't feel good, their personalities and behavior can change radically.
ReplyDeleteNot a bad thought. I really should. He is about do for a checkup anyhow. BTW, that is some delicious looking asparagus on your page.
DeleteStinks that your latest adventuring included the hospital. On the other hand, always nice to have a periodic look-see. Hope pickles lets you believe you've gotten him back in line soon!
ReplyDeleteHa! He is back to normal indoor-asshole levels. Those I am comfortable with. Yep. Liver and kidneys good. After all these pills for the next two weeks, I should have eradicated any hidden astral bug I ever had. (Makes me think of Arthur in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, having unknowingly eradicated a bug that would have destroyed half the civilizations of the universe if it wasn't for eating a disgusting old sandwich... or whatever the actual case was)
DeleteMight try some yogurt in case you're killing off too many of the good buggies. That's no fun a'tall. Probably even less so without running indoor water ;). Take good care!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you in the concern for my happy gut flora and fauna levels dropping from the meds. Meh.
DeleteCat scratches and especially bites, can be nasty. My Mom was playing with our cat once, he bit her in the finger (she didn't blame him, he was attacking a piece of paper she was teasing him with) and the cleaned it washed it, did all the right stuff...the next day her hand was twice it's size. Had to go to the ER and gets shots and pills as well. I am always mindful of that fateful day and now seeing your story, I am further reminded.
ReplyDeleteGlad you two are back to bunking together and all is as well as it can be...and glad you are ok!
Thank you! *Bows
