To date, the panels are all grounded with a 6awg continuous copper conductor that terminates in an 8 foot copper rod into the earth. The 10awg wires from the combiner boxer/300v lightening arrestor section (red/green/black) all are in 1/2 inch conduit which is buried from the solar array to the Shed. From there... things get precarious. Forgive the horror if you happen to be in the know!

DeleteI will have to send this to my home computer so I can watch it over the weekend. Dont worry, no system is "up to code" while being installed and many projects are not up to code shortly after the inspector leaves. (After the final approvial) When we add those last minute changes that we wanted and we did not want the inspector to see. At least that is the case with most of my home projects. That is not to say that they are unsafe. Lets' just say that some time I use some creative ways to solve a problem. Keep up the good work and good luck with the inspectors. Most are really very helpfull if you just ask and you are making an attempt to do things right as we can see you are.

@ Frank, you will be happy to know I purchased an awesome Midnite Solar Mini DC disco. It houses the Inverter main 175amp breaker, an 80amp for the charge controller, and I think a 60 for the pv disco side. Plus Ive purchased DC breakers to replace the fuses in the combiner box. I prefer breakers.
