The Ol' 42

Video #42 - Foundation and Structure.

This latest video is of footage that was shot last year in June. Nearly a year ago, when I started this project. It shows me creating the concrete piers for the Timber-framed House. Plus what it takes for a 5 foot 7 inch skinny man to lift true 6x6 cedar posts up in the air when they are 10ft tall.

Happy Viewing !

  1. That 6x6 almost got the best of you.:-)
I see you have a few ants to deal with. If they become a problem feed the cornmeal. It interferes with their breathing and they will leave the area.

    1. :D That first round was certainly given to the 6x6. At 10 feet tall and ungainly... My short and thin stature is barely able to have at it. Amazing was carnal drive will do for you when you just need to get things done!

Good Suggestion about the ants. I forget the species. Not fire. As they crawl over you, its a nuisance not them biting. Not carpenter or their destruction. Field ants?

Anyhow, the couple major nests that are on the property luckily are away from the Array, House, and Trailer.

  2. Just wondering what your plans are for what was to be the solar shed? Are you going to side it or??? or does coding have you stopped for now.

    1. I am going to use some of the remaining 6x6 posts and sakrete I have. Put a few more piers on the other side. Turn it in to a shed or motorcycle garage. Put the panels on the roof.

    2. I believe the county is full of it. So long as I make a structure under 120SF and a few other notings, I am perfectly legal to do so, un-permitted.

They have not been back around. It is my belief that they wanted to flex themselves. See how far they could go with a new resident.

As for the solar panels. If they give me grief for moving them on top of the shed. Ill simply place them on the wheeled-trailer. Thus going around the whole issue in a perfectly legal manner.

    1. No garden this year. I have a few ideas for it though. Pondering over placing it in the 'creek bed'

    1. I've been busy doing side-work. Enough so to finish up the House. Plus still facillitate my semi-retirement. ;)

    1. No garden yet. I have been helping out the neighbors with side-work. I am concentrating on trying to finish the House first. So many ideas flow through my head. It is ridiculous. Plus, rain and hail season up here. :)
