Word Verification

I have been commenting on a number of peoples garden pages as of late. What I have come across is an overwhelming amount of having to prove I am not spam.

A pain in the butt. It is.

In an attempt to pay it forward there will no longer be word verification on this blog. It is my hope that many of you will also do the same.

Thank you! :)

  3. Removed from mine too! I did it back when Google switched to that obnoxious, hard to read font. I still get an occasional spam comment but if I do, it only takes me a few seconds to delete it.

  4. Luckily I don't have a lot of spam posts, so I don't use word verification. Actually even if I did have spam issues, I think I would opt to moderate my posts instead of using word verification. I have to agree that I hate it as well. I am always getting it wrong then trying to type it in again. Sometimes I hit enter then jump up from the computer to do something else only to find out later when I return that I typed in the words wrong. Ugh!

  5. Thank you! I stopped using verification with the new Blogger interface. The first week I got a ton of spam, but after that there was very little. I moderate the comments, and it just takes a few seconds delete it if it's spam. I think it has got even more difficult to read lately. I find myself having to re-enter the verification words and numbers as many as a half dozen times before getting them right! I don't know why they can't just do random numbers, rather than those scrunched up letters on black and white backgrounds.

    1. Well, I tried stopping mine, but the porn spam made me turn it back on. Maybe I didn't give it enough time. I agree the words and numbers (hey Google, hire another photographer)are difficult to read.

    2. LOL. Yes. That photography is horrible at their job!

  6. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. I'm enjoying seeing your gardening videos. I'm sure i'll learn a lot from them. Good luck with harvesting food for a year. That's one of my goals too, in case of who know what: gov't collapse, severe inflation, pandemics, zombie apocalypse... :-)
    Enjoy your week.

  8. Appears to be a consensus on the matter. :D Meaning, I suppose I ought to apologize to all of you for not doing it sooner!

As Granny says, the scrunched up lettering is quite painful.

  9. I removed mine a few weeks ago and haven't had a problem. I was tired of trying to read 'em on other blogs so I figured I should remove mine.

    1. I agree. Some of them are a cruel joke in word recognition regardless of ability to see. :)

  10. I tried to remove mine but good grief, I was getting 6 to 12 spam messages a day, all for porn. I got tired of dealing with it so I went back to word verification. Sorry! I wish I was like the others that get no spam.

    1. @Leigh, I got those for a week or two after I removed mine, then they stopped. I almost gave up and turned the verification back on! I've only had one or two spam comments since, no porn. I do moderate the comments.

    2. So far no spam. I did get one email notification about a comment though when I looked it wasn't on the site. Guess Blogger automatically deleted it. No spam either. Apparently Leigh you are on the good mailing list which I, nor Granny is not. *shrugs*
