Not Dead Yet.

Pea sized hail covering the entire mountain for a wicked T-Storm!

Hello Everyone!

I am not dead yet. Forgive the massive delays here. I have been in mental contemplation mode for a while now. With the permits and the like, I've been somewhat put off. That is. I wish to comply, however, as I did not believe I was within the scope of them, I am a little miffed at having to draw up architectural plans for the Shed. Along with having to pay for engineering on my solar array posts.

Bleh.

This morning I have also learned that in the state of Colorado, when it comes to the season of freezing weather.... You cannot actually live in a tent even on your own land. Something due to the lack of heat. I was told that they come and haul you off to a homeless shelter for the evening.

SO....

Does this mean I need to purchase an RV/Trailer simply to set on my acreage to be visible for when the authorities drive by. Then assume Im staying in the RV and with its propane heat source... leave me be?

IDK.

This whole simple living is become quite complex.

Does this call for an additional, Bleh?

The Update :

I've resumed putting up 6x6 post beams onto the Storage Shed. The building needs to be 'dried-in' within the next few weeks before it starts to snow. It is already 40s at night.

BTW. Worry not everyone! Im NOT roughing it out here! The tent (REI - 4 person Kingdom) is filled with all my storage unit goodies. Coffee table, 42in tv, blue ray player and electric kettle.

I've learned over the last month of having solar electricity that I only use 2-3 KWH a day. It was much less in the beginning but now I watch a couple movies at night and use the kettle a lot throughout the day. :) Plus run the TV as a cd player (for building the shed) during the day.

Basically, I have such an overhead of available energy that Im no longer concerned about winter. The panels are already in a winter orientation.

Keep well everyone! Thanks for the concerns!

- Cloud

PS. My dating life is even looking up. :) Maybe this Colorado move for a simple life  will work out. (On the days when I want to just give up on the whole idea of finishing everything and just live on a trailer, I realize that you all are counting on me to finish. So I can't. Plus. Im not interested in living on wheels. )

  1. Sorry to hear about paperwork mess and hope you'll be able to have 'home" by winter. How's kitty doing?

    1. Kitty is enjoying it up here. He loves having all the space to run around and explore. Plus all the huge animals he gets to see on the property. Horses, Deer, etc. :-)

  2. YAY! You are back amongst us! I understand about the blehs. We all get them. But no dream is worth losing over a few roadblocks. You'll just be stronger in the end and appreciate it all the more.

I wondered about your Winter and how you would fair. Of course I know you survived very cold nights when you were working in other parts of the country. There has to be a solution, maybe we can all help you come up with one.

Welcome back and hang in there!

    1. Oh, and yes, how is Kiki? And congrats on the dating life. That's certainly another good reason to be absent! :-)

  3. Granny can now breathe easier! 1st. and I do worry about you, so forgive us if we hover. My kids always did say I wasn't a mother, I was a smother. They say that lovingly, of course.

  4. Glad to see this update. You have been in my thoughts. So sorry that rules and regulations are slowing you down. Keep pushing forward and try to find some time to enjoy the things around you.

  5. Good to see you back. I know there are a million thoughts going through your head every minute. When you get the chance just post "still working", then all of us will feel at ease that you have not lost it with the permit division and wound up in Jail. It is so easy to do when you are sure you are right. That is what Davy Crockett said, "Be sure you are right and then go ahead". Now days you have to be right and have the correct paper work. Keep a cool head and let us know you are OK.

  6. Considering how you spent last winter, I'd say you can handle anything, except red tape? ;) I'd heard Colorado was tough on some things. I'm sure it all had good intent but the reality of dealing with it can be frustrating. Just keep your "patience" cap handy.

  7. Hi Cloud,

Hope you delay in posting means great building progress, and a little fun thrown in to make it all worth while. Some times living simple get's very complex when you add a young lady to the mix. LOL
