Day six... Ten months culminated to this....

I moved into the cabin with the cat this afternoon. (I may shed a tear)

After spending ten months of life living in a tent, here we are. Dry inside a large cabin with 14ft cathedral ceilings.

It took lots of perseverance of living through 18F temp winters in the sleeping bag, traveling all over, spending another year for the aerial mapping company. (Which I took the previous year off not wanting to do it anymore and spent time at home) Saving everything I could.

Here, I sit with the cat, as he walks around exploring the new surroundings.

Debt Free. Paid. 3 acres outright. Solar derived Electricity. No monthly bill. A cabin. Life with such minimal overhead that I can keep it going without sacrificing myself to work where it could destroy friendships/relationships in my life.

Now of course there is plenty more to do, but Im dried in. The metal roof went up yesterday. The door today.

I know that today is Sunday, but tomorrow is going to be my seventh day (It took six full work days at it to get to this point - with the great help of my neighbor and another neighbor to help raise the walls.) AND you know darn well that we are going to REST.

In a few days it'll be time to install a fireplace. From there I'll become greedy and no longer accept 40 degree temps at night. I'll balk when its not 70. :-)

Whew.... It is finally here. A liberated life. I cannot believe it has finally culminated itself. Great community/ neighbors around me. People to have in life. A great cat. Everything to be thankful for.

I gather its Autumn now today. What a coincidence that I am inside.

Tomorrow those great neighbors are going to help me bring over a sleeper sofa and a lazy boy. All for a good price. It is going to be nice to sit in a comfy chair and watch TV while sipping tea or Rum.

My choice.

*Sigh*

When are Watermelons ripe?

Thanks to Granny's suggestion about visiting (http://ourstoneyacres.com/picking-the-perfect-melon) we finally have a ripe melon to eat! Its a healthy 6lb 5oz baby!
