New Sock Day. Its a Tradition.

A long held tradition of mine, while living on the road, happens to be new sock day. It is one that is held very near and dear to me. Consider it a personal quirk. What happens is that some arbitrary date comes up which brings me to purchase a new package of socks. Oh, what a splendid time of year! Out from my luggage goes all the poor stretched out, tired, and miserable socks of years past, only to be replaced with a snug fitted new one. Each possessing the fluffy comfort of actual fibers. As said, it's kind of a big deal to me. ;) Perhaps it has some hidden thing to do with poverty or some other non-defineable construct in my mind and rearing.

This year is a little different.

I've been having some airport (macs wifi) issues this past month. The macbook air insists there isnt one although its there. It has even come back on occassion leading me at first to think software... Now I believe a wire is loose.

Anyhow, I was out to get a mini screw driver. Of course I didn't find one small enough. *shrugs* Along the way we killed some time at Dunham sports. I've been looking for shops that carry toe socks. Yes, for my freaky, funky Vibrams. Not being sure about if I'll be somewhere long enough to have internet purchases mailed to me. (This also makes a pain in the arse to have friends visit you while on the road, but that is seperate indeed.) Out of the blue, I've found a pair!

When I awoke this morning I wasn't aware that it would turn out to be my favorite time of year, but it did. New Sock Day.

To all of my friends out there, it is my fondest hopes that you will find your own New Sock Day when you least expect it and really need a daily lift. :)

OMG - April 11th, 2012 Update

Here are the photos current as of the 11th.

This afternoon, April 7th, a saturday:

The most amazing thing happened. I walked the grounds and found out that the potatoes have sprouts in several places! Really healthy leaves etc. I was so elated. Running back into the house to inform V of the good news. She of course wasn't as thrilled as I, but still. :D

I watered them. Going to be excited to see them tomorrow.

Quick Notes

I haven't posted in a few weeks because I was out of town. Thought I might be moving to Arizona. Instead became a nice vacation to visit my old friends and family.

Before I left, however, I cut back a lot of what was going on with the city homestead. This would make it easier for V to take care of. Now that I am back, I will slowly but surely place a bit of it back up.

Just before I had left I planted out lettuce and various semi winter hardy vegetables. That being 3 weeks or so ago. You can imagine how delighted I was to return to find them more or less still struggling on. Now with the approaching warm weather it should be off like a heard of racing turtles for growth!

I'll keep you all in the mix! BTW, does anyone know how long it should take a well chitted potato to surface once buried 6-9 inches down???

At what point should I be concerned. lol

Potatoes are making a break for it! : Supplemental

Here it is. The good stuff. You knew I would get to it eventually. Became a rather long video. Hopefully you will not find yourself dozing off halfway through. ;) Act one... the spuds make a mad dash to the garden in their long journey back to my plate!
