Square Dance Thursdays.

Well folks... mark this one down for an interesting one.

The other evening I moved my tent from the hangar to a patch of grass between trees here at the airport. Figured it would be heaps nicer outside than inside the hangar. Much more quiet for the cat. Plus darkness to sleep in without the hangar lights on all evening.

This morning I get woken up to some deep voice shouting, "Is there someone in there". Of course, I reply back, "Yes. Let me toss some pants on and I will come on out."

Turns out airport security did not enjoy me being out in the open. Got the third degree wondering whom I was and why I am there. Turns out I had a valid reason and had permission. I, of course pass along that to the Security guy.

We both head to the FBO front desk so he can verify. Well, turns out I have to drag the tent, cat, and all our belongings back to the hangar. Oh well.

To be honest... I am surprised they noticed it so quickly. Only a day past. It was nice sleeping in darkness again.

Here in Louisville they are having the 'Thunder' celebration this weekend. Im guessing the largest display of fireworks in the US. Plus it has an airshow. The airport is busy. A bunch of airshow planes have come in. Really hectic happenings around these parts.

Minding my own, I come back from changing in the restrooms, a new woman at the FBO asks me who I am and whether I was with another group of pilots. I thought it was the Hertz rental agent. Replied nope, just an aerial mapping pilot.

She is interested and asks my name etc. Once I mention it is Cloud she thinks its neat. Then proceeds on telling me about her daughter named Scout. Another neat name. We talk for a bit. Turns out she went vegetarian 2 months ago.

A little bit later her daughter shows up. Cute girl. She is attending UL. Fashion Major. We end up getting onto a guessing game of how old I am. Mom believes in early 20s and so I ask the daughter whom is in her early twenties. She goes with 24. Flattery is nice at 33. ;)

I was telling her mom earlier about all the neat veggie friendly restaurants right across the street. All three of us end up going over the the Ethiopian restaurant.

Back to the airport. A bunch of airshow guys come in. Hustle and Bustle. Mom is coordinating them. Daughter leaves for a friend only to return an hour later with a friend. She comes bearing vegan friendly sweets. Cakes and such. Her mom makes a note to point out that she got vegan goods especially for me.

As I write this, my head is throbbing. All that spinning around and dehydration...

Ok, back to it. After talking to Daughter and her friend for a bit in the FBO lobby, they invite me out to a square dance this evening. I agree it will be fun, so give her my number after she asks me for it.

Flash forward to 8pm. I put on a fancy shirt and tie. Join them. They are dressed quite lovely. Away we go.

Now... the last time I Doh-See-Dohed was I think in grade school and it pertained to PE class.

It turned out amazing. Much better than I though going into it. But as a man that lives in a tent with his cat at the airport...  how am I going to say no to nice, pretty, college girls that invite me out to square dance? Exactly. Im not.

I had a great time. Now my head hurts. Wanted to write this out as its fresh. Now Im going to lay my head and not wake up for a very long time.

Over and out!
