Arg. Why do cities do such things to people.

Quick post here. I'm sure all of you have heard the news a while back about the woman in Michigan in a legal battle with her city over growing food. Well, this one is even more aggravating. The city mowed it all down prior to a judges ruling.

Sometimes you just can't get no satisfaction no matter what laws you follow. Arg.

  3. Wow, that's unbelievable. Ironically, her yard is kind of what I hope to have on our property, lots of edibles and edible perennial herbs and such. That' so sad, i hope she wins too.

Things like this need to be nipped in the bud (no pun intended) so that other government entities don't get similar ideas.

Grrr....this kind of stuff makes me mad.

  4. If Michelle Obama can tear up landscaping at the White House to plant vegetables then anyone should be able to plant fruits and vegetables in the front, back or side yards on their own property. Sounds like "THE 7MSN Ranch" blog Army should get involved with the city of Tulsa, OK. We managed to stop the Donkey Roping at the Van Horn Texas Rodeo in less than a week.

Is channel 6 ABC, NBC, CBS or FOX affilated??????

  5. @ Jenny &Agriburbia : Yes, Major boo on them! It get's me when local ordinances work against the people. You would think they are more in tune with citizenry wishes.

@ 1st : You know, 1st. I heard them talking over coffee about how you and 2nd are next on the list. ;)

@Tombstone : Agreed. Although I would just say that it is a basic human right to be able to secure your food. Along with health and all the other basic rights of living etc. Doing a google search the first link asserts its a CBS affiliation.

  6. Absolutely idiotic. This is what happens when government gets too big for it's britches. Unfortunately I think we're going to see more of this kind of thing in the near future.

    1. Indeed. Personally I am not in the anti-government camp of things. There is a reason society created it after all. However, in matters like these and those pertaining to a number of the building permitting process (allowable SF, what you can build on own land etc) there are certainly over stepping their usefulness! Boo.

What kind of a world do we live in when a chemically sprayed green lawn is accceptable, yet flowers, herbs, edibles are not? It's no wonder our planet is in such a mess. It's time to wake up and smell the roses. I hope she wins her lawsuit, we need more people like her. Oh, and someone should kick those government workers in the butt. But they'll probably get a slap on the wrist as usual.
